Note-taking is a vital study skill. During lectures and seminars you will need to be able to record information, and when researching from books or journals you will need to make notes to help you write assignments. |

Be Selective The key to making
good notes is to be selective about what you record. You won't be able
to record every single detail of what is said in a lecture or seminar
and taking copious notes from a book is a self-defeating exercise. Revisit notes Whatever
your style of note-taking, one technique will help you get the most out
of them, and that is rereading and revising your notes. After a seminar
or lecture find a time to sit down and reread your notes. Anything which
isn't clear from your notes will still be held in your memory, you can
then amend your notes so that when you need them at a later date, they
hold the maximum of information. |
